Short Story Content Rules

 

The Friends of Dover Castle  - Story Telling Competition 2020 – extended until 31/12/2020

 

  1. The competition is Free to enter and open to all – you do not need to be a member of The Friends of Dover Castle;
  2. Entries may be completed by being handwritten, typed on a typewriter, using a word processor or on
  3. Entries must be in English and legible;
  4. Entries of an offensive nature will be rejected;
  5. Entries should be of the following three themes :-
  6. Being Isolated at Dover Castle in historical times or during the current pandemic;
  7. Being a reporter – describe what has this pandemic and lockdown been like;
  8. The impact of Coronavirus on you personally and what lessons have been learnt;
  9.                  Prizes -            Adults – over 18 at 31/12/2020  

    1st Prize  - Free Annual Membership of the Friends or if already a member Gift Voucher of £30

                     2nd Prize  - Gift Voucher of £20        3rd Prize  -  Gift Voucher of £10

                                                 Young Person – under 18 at 31/12/2020

                     1st Prize  - Gift Voucher of £25

                     2nd Prize  - Gift Voucher of £20        3rd Prize  -  Gift Voucher of £10

                                                 Children  - at Primary school at 31/12/2020

                     1st Prize -  Gift Voucher of £20

                     2nd Prize  - Gift Voucher of £15        3rd Prize -  Gift voucher of  £10

 

 

10.   Each winner will receive a copy of our Publication and their entries will be placed into a Friends of Dover Time Capsule.

11.    Stories must be no more that 7500 words.

12.  Stories must be original and must not have been previously published.

13.  Collaborative entries are admissible but contributors must be in same age category.

13. Plagiarism – entries must not be copied from other publications in whole or in part other than if a

       “quotation” is needed as part of your story,

15.  Closing dates for all entries 31st December 2020

16.  Copyright of stories remains with the author but the Friends of Dover Castle reserve the right to use the

       story or parts of the story for the purposes of marketing, publishing and displaying but the author will

       always be credited.
