Our Kitchen Garden open days give our members and visitors the opportunity to view the progress being made in respect of the restoration project. The garden is normally out of bounds which means that Treasurers Tower and the Rampart Walkway can also be accessed.
The open days are staffed by our Kitchen Garden volunteers who are on hand to to discuss the project, the plants and all aspects of this forgotten corner of the castle grounds.
Virtually all the plants, vegetables and herbs grown in the garden are produced within the castle walls from seeds and cuttings. Many of these plants and herbs are offered to visitors on a ‘suggested donation basis’ and all proceeds go back into the project.
